Nkwali is an excellent option for travellers wishing to enjoy both vehicle and walking safaris in the South Luangwa! It combines really well with the park’s walking-focused bush camps.
With a reputation for great guiding, Nsefu is one of the more established lodges here – this camp is a well-oiled property where you can expect a high level of service. It is run by Robin Pope Safaris, one of the park’s most famous operators.
Luangwa River Camp
Luangwa River Camp has a lovely location in an area with high concentrations of game; this area is particularly good for leopard sightings.
This camp is a great option for travellers who want a comfortable base to see the South Luangwa at a fraction of the price charged by the more upmarket lodges.
Chamilandu Bush Camp

Kafunta Island Bush Camp
Island Bush Camp is one of the most remote bush camps in South Luangwa. The lodge is open during the dry season from June to October.

Time + Tide Luwi Bush Camp
We love this classic bushcamp in the South Luangwa! The location is good, the guides are great, and the atmosphere is really convivial.
Kaingo Camp was set up by Derek Shenton in 1992. Today Derek continues to own and run the camp, with his wife Jules. It reclines close to the banks of River Luangwa, in the shade of a grove of ebony and mahogany trees.
Time + Tide Kakuli
Kakuli is one of the most northern camps in Zambia’s South Luangwa National Park. It is a classic no-frills bush camp that is one of our favourites in the South Luangwa.
Nsolo Bush Camp
We recommend Nsolo for adventurous travellers with a keen interest in walking safaris! Game viewing is exceptionally good, particularly for big cats on the dry riverbed and elephants at the nearby waterhole.
If you are looking for a lodge that offers comfort and style and is a bit more structured, Kapamba Bushcamp will be perfect.
Kafunta River Lodge
Kafunta River Lodge is situated on the edge of South Luangwa and is open from April to early January.
Zungulila Bushcamp has great views of the river and onto the plains, where there are natural springs that attract impressive herds of game.
Kuyenda Bush Camp
This freshly rebuilt and redesigned bush camp remains one of the most rustic of its kind in the area, and is still well known for its amazing wildlife sightings. It accommodates a maximum of 12 travellers.
Luangwa Bush Camping
Luangwa Bush Camping is a walking camp located in the game-rich Nsefu sector. This is a camp well suited to the adventurous traveller.
Kafunta Three Rivers Camp
Three Rivers Camp is the newest property to open in the South Luangwa area! It is owned and operated by Kafunta Safaris, a company with almost two decades of experience in the famous national park.
One of the newest additions to the South Luangwa, this walking-only camp is perfect for travellers seeking authentic experiences of the national park! The minimum age requirement is 12 years.
Nkonzi Bush Camp
With a strong focus on classic safari activities, this camp is perfect for travellers seeking authentic experiences in the South Luangwa! The minimum age requirement is 12 years, but children aged 6–11 are welcome when the camp is booked exclusively.
Shawa Luangwa Camp
Opened in 2021, Shawa Luangwa Camp offers exclusive experiences in the South Luangwa! Guests will enjoy game drives in the camp’s impressive fleet of quiet electric vehicles – a major draw.
Any guests of the Robin Pope Safaris properties in the park are invited to visit the village as an activity offered alongside game drives and walking safaris. You can stay overnight, or even for a few days!
Robin's House is a great place for families and private groups to stay as there is no set schedule. Meals, safaris and any activities are all arranged around the guests' convenience.
Mfuwe Lodge is located in central South Luangwa National Park, which is just a 5-minute drive from the park’s main gates. The lodge is set on the banks of two lagoons, bringing wildlife to the area all year round.
Bilimungwe Bush Camp
This camp is a classic Luangwa bushcamp. As it has just four rooms, service is very personal, while guiding is high quality and there is a serious focus on walking safaris.
