Days 1–3 Victoria Falls

Victoria Falls Safari Lodge

On Day 1 of your honeymoon, you will fly out to Livingstone Town and transfer by road to Victoria Falls Safari Lodge. This is a journey of just 15 minutes! The property has the look of a classic safari lodge, but on a very large scale. Its main building has three storeys, accommodating a great range of relaxing lounge areas, a split-level restaurant, and an open-plan bar complete with viewing deck! Other amenities include an internet café, a library, a curio/gift shop, and a spacious swimming pool. You will stay in a Lodge Waterhole Facing Room. This is really sumptuous accommodation, featuring air conditioning, an extra-length bed, tea- and coffee-making facilities, a mini-bar, and an en-suite rainfall shower! There is a balcony too – from here, you have views over a waterhole, so you can watch all the local wildlife coming to drink. Wildlife activities include observing a variety of animals from the Safari Lodge’s hides and taking part in the ‘Vulture Culture’ experience! Game drives are available in Zambezi National Park, and you can also enjoy tours of the Victoria Falls rainforest. Staff at the lodge are happy to arrange Falls watersports too, as well as scenic flights and romantic river cruises at sunset.

Board basis and activities:
Bed-and-breakfast accommodation including bottled water, shuttle service to Victoria Falls town and rainforest, and Wi-Fi.

Days 4–6 Hwange National Park

lodge

On the fourth day of your trip, you will transfer by road to Elephant’s Eye, which is about 13 kilometres from Hwange National Park. This is a fantastic little safari camp! There are three communal buildings – one for a comfy lounge and library, another for a spacious dining room, and the third for a bar and viewing deck. The deck is located above the bar, so the views across grass to a busy waterhole are absolutely spectacular! Elephant’s Eye has a fire-pit too, as well as a swimming pool. The guest accommodation consists of eight tented chalets, all spaced well apart so each feels very private. Every chalet is furnished in a contemporary style and includes a king-size bed, freestanding fan, tea and coffee station, and woodburning stove. The en-suite facilities are very well appointed, with both bath and shower, and you can enjoy watching the local wildlife from your very own deck! Activities here focus on the wildlife, with game drives available both in the camp’s concession and in Hwange. All Big Five are in residence, in addition to an abundance of other predators and herbivores – and over 400 species of bird! Walking safaris may be booked in advance, and you can also visit a local village and check out the Painted Dog Conservation Centre.

Board basis and activities:
Full-board accommodation including all meals, soft drinks, selection of house alcoholic drinks, and a laundry service.

Days 7–9 Lake Kariba

bumi hills 2010 180

For the last part of your honeymoon, you will fly out to Lake Kariba for a couple of nights at Bumi Hills Safari Lodge. This is another classic camp, in the south region of Matusadona. It is situated on top of a hill overlooking the lake and the views from the main lodge are superb! The communal spaces include a large lounge, a spacious restaurant, a games room (with snooker table), a terrace bar, a dining deck, a spa, and an infinity pool. All ten guest rooms are pleasantly furnished and feature air conditioning, a tea and coffee station, a mini-bar, and a balcony. This is a very comfortable base for exploring the local area! Activities on offer are game drives, walking safaris, viewing from hides, boating safaris, and fishing. Although the Bumi Hills private concession does not lie within the national park of Matusadona, there is plenty of wildlife here – loads of elephant, buffalo, black rhino, antelopes, lion, and over 300 bird species! Cultural excursions are also available. You can visit a local Tonga village and cross the lake to Kariba Town, to see such sights as the Italian Chapel. And if you are feeling energetic, you can even join the Bumi Hills anti-poaching team on patrol! In between activities, the Lodge provides soothing spa treatments – perfect for a little relaxation as your honeymoon comes to an end.

Board basis and activities:
Full-board accommodation including all meals, teas and coffees, soft drinks, a selection of house alcoholic drinks, and a laundry service.

On Day 10, you will fly to Harare International Airport, to connect on to your international flight home.
