"Wilderness DumaTau is simply one of the best camps in Botswana. High levels of luxury, a spectacular lagoon setting, and outstanding game viewing. If it can be afforded, this is a superb option in the Linyanti."

Wilderness DumaTau Camp is a great camp in a truly fantastic private reserve and has become one of our favorites in the country. Sister camps in this reserve are Wilderness Savuti and Wilderness King's Pool. Wilderness DumaTau has taken a fresh approach to safari lodge design - it is one of the most modern and funky camps we know of in Africa! Wilderness DumaTau has an extensive lagoon frontage, offering uninterrupted views over Osprey Lagoon and the mega-herds of elephant the Linyanti is famous for. A major hit in the office here, as it seems to be with all our clients!

Wilderness DumaTau is located in the Linyanti Wildlife Reserve, one of our favorite regions in northern Botswana.

Guest accommodation consists of seven twin tents and one family unit. Each will include a luxurious lounge, and the en-suite facilities will feature both indoor and outdoor showers. Every guest tent will also include a private plunge pool. The rooms have an enviable location on the channel.

The communal areas at Wilderness DumaTau include a main dining and lounge area that boast wide-angle vistas, perfect for evenings of fine-dining and wildlife watching. Shared with Wilderness Little DumaTau, there is also a new wellness center and gym, which includes a shaded deck, a lap pool, spa, restaurant, and a safari boutique.

Wilderness DumaTau offers a thrilling assortment of activities, as follows:

  • Expertly guided game drives

    - These will take place during the morning and the afternoon. Drives will cover a lot of ground and provide opportunities to view many mammals of the Linyanti. Among these are lion, leopard, elephant, and buffalo – four of the Big Five! – as well as smaller predators and herbivores such as cheetah, hyena, wild dog, giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, and antelopes.
  • Night drives

    - Guests will be invited to look out for the nocturnal species of the reserve too. Head out after sunset, and you might see leopard, civet, genet, honey badger, and spring hare.
  • Nature walks

    - Walks will also be accompanied by a knowledgeable and experienced guide. They’ll be ideal for travelers interested in getting to know the smaller lives of the Linyanti – the insects, plants, and birds.
  • Boating excursions

    - Board a boat, and you’ll have a lot of fun exploring the reserve’s waterways, watching out for crocodiles, hippos, and big game species quenching their thirst at the edge of the water.
  • Birding

    - Fans of feathery friends will be keen to fit in a birding safari, as the Linyanti is home to both Okavango specials and mopane woodland species. Ostrich, slaty egret, wattled crane, coqui francolin, southern carmine bee-eater – the variety of birdlife is truly outstanding here!
  • Helicopter flights

    - Wilderness DumaTau’s location is absolutely spectacular, and these flights will provide breathtaking vistas over the valleys, the Linyanti wetlands, and the waterways.

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
