Mahé is located in the north-east of the Seychelles nation. The largest of the island group, it combines wonderful white-sand beaches, tall palms, majestic mountains and dramatic granite outcrops to present a little piece of paradise.

The company Banyan Tree prides itself on excellent service throughout all its properties – and Banyan Tree Seychelles is no exception. All staff members aim to make guests feel at home, ensuring that a stay here is truly memorable. Food and drink deserves a special mention, with a variety of dining experiences available to guests – from the fine cuisine of Au Jardin d’Epices, to the snack selection of Saffron, to the exotic flavours of Chez Lamar, to the resort’s Destination Dining feature, accommodating guests on the beach or in their own private villa. And Banyan Tree Spa is superb too, winning awards in recent years for its revitalising treatments and therapies. Altogether, this is a dream destination for travellers eager to immerse themselves in island culture – but those intent on watersports might favour Four Seasons, where it is possible to enjoy the ocean all year.

Banyan Tree occupies the land around Intendance Bay, situated on Mahé’s south-western coastline.

The accommodation is based around the former home of Pink Panther actor Peter Sellers and The Beatles’ George Harrison. This colonial building with its marble floors forms part of the communal area of Banyan Tree, which comprises meeting facilities, three restaurants, boutique, library, gym, tennis court, swimming pool, salon and spa.

The accommodation stretches along the coast or perches on the hills. All 60 villas are contemporary in style and feature elegant colonial décor. They range from the high Hillside Pool Villa and Intendance Pool Villa, down to the Beachfront Pool Villa and two-bedroom Double Pool Villa almost on the beach, and out to the Presidential Villa and Pool Villa by the Rocks. Just get in touch with us to talk about your needs. All accommodation is fully air conditioned and includes wide windows onto spectacular views, TV and DVD player, en-suite bathrooms with twin basins and spacious showers, and delightful decks ideal for relaxing between dips in the pool.

*For families with children under the age of 6 years, we always request a Beachfront Pool Villa or a room without a balcony for safety reasons. If you stay here with us, please ensure this is what you are given.*

  • As the seas around Intendance Bay tend to be rough, watersports may be limited especially from May to October.
  • When possible, there is diving, snorkelling, canoeing and deep-sea fishing. Guests may also enjoy excursions to other islands.
  • Inland, there is swimming, tennis, walking or jogging along nature trails, and mountain bike hire.
  • Sightseeing tours are available too, enabling guests to visit the island’s markets, museums, gardens, cathedral.
  • There really is plenty to do here!
