"What a great little camp! With just two tented suites and high levels of service and guiding, Little Naibor is the perfect balance of adventure and luxury. A seriously good product in an amazing location; a YZ favourite within the Mara."

Little Naibor is perfect for a group of friends or family members who would appreciate the benefits of booking a safari camp exclusively, such as having a private vehicle and guide.

Little Naibor is one of a trio of properties forming Naibor Camp, together with Naibor Camp itself and the adventurous Naibor Wilderness. Like its bigger siblings, Little Naibor is situated in the Mara confluence sector of the Maasai Mara National Reserve. The setting of all three camps is beautiful – amidst greenheart and orange leaf croton trees on the south side of the River Talek. This side is quieter than the north side, yet just 2 kilometres from the place where the Talek joins the River Mara, famous for Great Migration crossings!

Little Naibor has a private view of the Talek from a fire-pit area, and the camp has its own team of staff too. However, guests also have access to the communal spaces at Naibor’s main camp. These include lounge and dining areas within a classic mess tent, a boutique, and a spa. The mess tent contains comfy seating around a coffee table, elegant dining tables and chairs, and a friendly atmosphere! There is an outside dining area too, ideal for tucking in to al fresco meals while marvelling at the scenery. The spa tent is positioned in a remote corner of the site, ready to receive guests for relaxing massages! And Naibor’s boutique stocks a range of Maasai jewellery as well as pieces by designer Rosie Sharp.

Little Naibor has two tented suites, each consisting of one double bedroom and one twin bedroom. All bedrooms are very well appointed, featuring both dark- and light-wood furnishings, sumptuous Persian rugs, and chairs recalling the campaign era. All have en-suite facilities too, comprising flush toilet, washbasins, and safari shower filled with hot water on request. The bedrooms are connected via a lounge, containing a sofa, two chairs, floor cushions, and a coffee table. And there is a veranda too, where you can relax and enjoy lovely river views!

Activities from Little Naibor are the same as those available from the other Naibor camps, except that travellers booking Little Naibor on an exclusive basis have access to a private vehicle and guide! This means that you can decide where you want to go and what you want to see.

  • Both half-day and full-day game drives are possible – and if you opt for a full day on safari, staff will happily pack up a picnic for you. The Maasai Mara is best known for the Great Migration, with the huge herds of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelles storming through the reserve from approximately July to November. However, there is loads of wildlife to observe all year round, including all of the Big Five – lion, rhino, leopard, elephant, and buffalo – as well as numerous other predators and herbivores. There are oodles of birds too!
  • Guests may also head out to a local Maasai village, to interact with the people and to watch their traditional dances. And for a special treat, you can take to the skies in a hot air balloon, enjoying a bird’s-eye view of all the action before descending to a champagne breakfast – wow!
  • Village visits and balloon rides incur an additional charge, typically US$20 and US$500 respectively, but game drives are included in the price of your stay. The standard of guiding is exceptionally high across all Naibor camps, and Little Naibor provides a very comfortable base from which to explore the reserve.

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
