Robin Pope Safaris

Robin Pope Safaris are a trusted supplier that we work closely with here at Yellow Zebra Safaris to ensure that you have an unforgettable safari holiday.

Background information

Robin Pope grew up in Zambia and began working for Zambia Safaris in 1975. 10 years later he started his own company, Robin Pope Safaris and opened his first camp, Tena Tena in 1986. The company has grown over the years and now has several camps in the South Luangwa, Zambia, as well as a safari lodge just 3 km away from the Victoria Falls.

Yellow Zebra view

Robin Pope is a good little company, well-known for its walking expeditions across the Luangwa and trips out to the Liuwa in western Zambia.

Robin Pope's camps:

Nkwali Camp

Nkwali Camp is located in a small private reserve in Mfuwe sector, just outside South Luangwa National Park. Nkwali consists of six bamboo-and-thatch rooms overlooking Luangwa River. They are cool and spacious, and have ensuite bathrooms

Luangwa River Camp

Luangwa River Camp has a lovely location in an area with high concentrations of game; this area is particularly good for leopard sightings. It sits on the banks of the Luangwa River on the border of South Luangwa National Park at the end of the Great Rift Valley.

Tena Tena Camp

Tena Tena is a tented camp that operates in a virtually private walking area. It is stretched along the bank of Luangwa River. Its five rooms are spacious yet cosy, each with an open-air bathroom, outside shower and a verandah with views across the river. It is the most adventurous camp that Robin Pope operates in the valley.

Nsefu Camp

Nsefu consists of just six small concrete rondavels, which look out over a sweeping bend in Luangwa River. It is the oldest lodge in the park and subsequently has a fantastic setting. The rondavel style is unique to the South Luangwa, with Nsefu offering a more ‘secure’ and less adventurous safari experience than other camps in the park.

Luangwa Safari House

Luangwa Safari House is rather special – it is the perfect place for groups or families to share an extremely exclusive safari experience. Designed by safari architect Neil Rocher, Luangwa Safari House is far from your average safari camp. It is a uniquely designed house made out of stone and thatch.

Robin's House

Robin's House is a great place for families and private groups to stay as there is no set schedule. Robin's House is sited very close to Nkwali Camp on the banks of the Luangwa River. Formerly the home of Robin and Jo Pope of Robin Pope Safaris, it is a luxury private house suitable for a family or small group.

Stanley Safari Lodge

Located 3 kilometres away from Victoria Falls, Stanley Safari Lodge is set on the border of Mosi-oa Tunya National Park. Perched up on a high peak the lodge has views that clearly make out the spray of the falls themselves – unique to the area.

Robin Pope’s Mobile Walking Safari

Robin Pope’s Mobile Walking Safari is a purely walking camp located in a remote corner of South Luangwa National Park. The mobile camp holds a maximum of six people and lasts for five nights.
